There’s an easy start to this 80k (50 mile) route. The first 20k is flat or rolling via Shipston-on-Stour and Morton-in-Marsh, where the hills start. There’s a total of 1,206m of climbing, but the climbs are well spread out and tend to be short. Nearly all the route is on quiet back roads. It’s a figure of eight route centered on the beautiful village of Blockley. After the first visit to Blockley, we head North to Chipping Campden and the hardest climb of the day: Dyer’s Lane, which goes up to Dover’s Hill. Then we head South via Broadway Tower for a lunch stop in the very pretty village of Guiting Power. Then it’s a direct route North-East back to Ilmington – passing through Blockley for a second time.
